Keith has over 6 years worked with different organisations both in a corporate and private practice setting and has handled several and diverse legal issues including but not limited to corporate, contractual, land-related, banking and finance, labour laws and taxation. Below are some of the notable projects.

At Matrix, Keith has been engaged in advising clients on setting up and structural organisation of different corporations and assisted in formulating different policies related to human capital, branding, intellectual property and tax planning. Keith has been involved in advising on the regulatory and compliance issues of different Fintechs and advised them on proper financing options.

Keith participated in the review and refinement of the Bank’s procurement agreement templates for a wide section of goods and services including but not limited to ICT, Stationery supplies, Computer and other electronic equipment, legal services among others. This task specifically required Keith to review and update terms and conditions upon which the Bank contracts vendors, shed-off obsolete clauses and embed in the contract updated clauses introduced by a change in legislation, internal policy and/or specific vendor nuances. Over 40 templates were finalised under this project leading to a smoother and seamless contracting process.

Keith has also been engaged in a review of the top 3 contract templates used by each unit in the Bank aimed at stamping out potential legal risk that could be caused by gaps in the identified contracts. In this project, over 30 templates spanning across the different units of the Bank including but not limited to human capital, procurement, finance, operations, branches, channels, digital banking, marketing, global markets, collateral and credit among others were refined for completeness and updated to reflect the prevailing regulatory and legal environment.

In addition to that, Keith has participated in the development of the Transactional Products and Services template toolkit for the Standard Bank Group. This project was aimed at standardising contract templates used across the group in different jurisdictions. This specifically required us to identify generic terms that can be condensed into general terms and conditions and therefore suitable for deployment across the group in different countries but also cater for country specific nuances. The project enhanced standardisation of the Bank’s documents hence improving customer experience especially the multinational clients.

Before joining the Standard Bank Group, Keith worked with Phleb Associated Advocates whose core practice was immigration, civil society and non-governmental organisations. While at Phleb Associated Advocates, Keith engaged in advising a section of the firm’s clientele on structures, management, governance and legal documentation to back up the organisation’s core values and objectives. Up to date, Keith’s client base has a huge representation of civil society and non-governmental organisations clients. In addition, Keith has ably advised on a complex land matter involving 10 square miles in Nakaseke district involving political, social, economic and legal considerations.
