William Muhumuza

William specializes in banking and litigation. He advises and represents on securitization and foreclosure. He represents individuals and corporations in civil litigation and arbitration matters. William has a good grasp of intellectual property law in Uganda specifically trademarks and has taken part in the registration of various trademarks and also prosecuted infringers of trademarks.

Prior to starting Matrix Advocates, William was an associate at the oldest law firm in Uganda, H&G Advocates and the Company Secretary of Megha Group of Industries, a conglomerate of manufacturing, real estate, mining and hospitality companies.

William was part of the team that successfully represented Medical Research Council, International Aids Vaccine Initiative and others in Human Rights Petition No.308 of 2017 wherein the petitioner sought damages of US$.12m on grounds that her informed consent was never obtained prior to her enrolment as a study participant in a Hepatitis B Vaccine trial.

Education & Court Admissions

William was called to the Ugandan Bar in 2018. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice – Law Development Centre, Kampala and LLB (Honours) – Uganda Christian University, Mukono.

William is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society.

William is also a registered trademark agent and a registered insolvency practioner.
